Our Pittsburgh community of makers is undergoing intense change. The potential purchase, relocation, or closure of TechShop Pittsburgh may create a gap in services and equipment access that so many small businesses and makers have come to depend upon. While the TechShop team is doing everything possible to find and/or create a non-profit to assume operation of TechShop as a licensee we think it's prudent to mitigate any potential gap in services down the road.
Today, our goal is to provide a temporary solution to prevent this total loss from happening. Prototype is calling on everyone in the Pittsburgh maker community to join this alliance. All makers and maker-adjacent organizations and businesses are being asked to band together and share their resources with the larger community. To find out how you can get involved, click here.
The pledge you are signing today is your commitment to the maker community making in Pittsburgh. It is an assurance that we will all have continued access to the tools and community we rely on. We need each other to move forward through this transition. Help us create this maker alliance and network of resources. Help us keep making open and accessible in Pittsburgh.
Help us prototype the kind of world we want to live in.
Join us in this next iteration.
